Nikoloz Basilashivili who came under lights by stopping Great Roger Federer’s comeback in the quarter-finals has just been fantastic since then. He keeps a record of 2-13 in the sport from August of last year.
Doha yesterday witnessed a fabulous performance from the tennis player of Georgia. Nikoloz defeated Roberto Bautista of Spain in the finals of Qatar Open 2021 to win the fourth title of his career.
He and Roberto ended with a figure of 7-6 (7/5), 6-2 in the finals that happened in the Gulf desert nation which expected a windy-dusty blow, and the clash brought the same. In the end, world number 42 Nikoloz conquered the crown.
Spectators experienced fickleness throughout the match. Nikoloz someway managed to end the first set at the tiebreak. But the champion from Georgia showed that he has come to Doha with a record of 2-13. Basilashivili took away the defense of Bautista in the sixth game of set two with a fizzy backhand to win a crucial breakpoint.

Switzerland legend Roger Federer was returning to the court after almost 13 months as the star player was suffering from knee surgery. The comeback was going well for Federer until Nikoloz stopped him in the quarter-finals. But the tournament will be known as a comeback tournament for the legendary swiss player.
Nikoloz said to the reporters that he had not expected that he would go for a win but it’s all about the hard work he gave and that’s the result. The 29-years-old Georgian player added that the match was tough. It could have gone either way.
Bautista also took to the reporters to congratulate Nikoloz. He said that 29-years-old took the finals away from him. He accepted that the winner played aggressively and he needs to think about the comeback now.
