Indian Archer Deepika Kumari concluded at ninth position in the Women Individual Ranking round, Tokyo Olympics 2020

Deepika Kumari who is regarded as the no. 1 archer in the world secured the ninth spot in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 Individual Women Rankings. She shot accurate 30 10s and 13 Xs (points close to the center of the target) and gathered a score of 663 points at the Yumenoshima Archery Field. The previous Olympic record of this game was 673 points and surprisingly it is broken by 4 archers, 3 from Korea, An San with 680 points, Jang Minhee with 676, Kang Chae Young with 675, and one Mexican archer, Alejandra Valencia with 674 points.

Quite a hustle for Deepika!

Deepika is a very proficient player but this time she seemed to have some fluctuations in her scores. At the inception of the game, she was in the top 10 players with the highest scores, but in the fourth round of shooting 6 arrows, she scored only a 7 which steeped her onto the 14th place on the table. But Kumari did not give up, and mounted again to the ninth position, but then there were all 720 arrows shot.

This was the first round or Individual Ranking round, next comes the Women’s Individual 1/32 Elimination round. In that round, Deepika will face the Butan’s archer Bhu Karma which will be played on the 28th of July 2021 at 2:14 pm in the same Yumenoshima Field.

This is the ranking table according to the Sports Authority of India,

Meanwhile, at the start of the Tokyo Olympics 2020, there came several wishes from big stars to a common man for the Indian players. Legendary A.R. Rehman has even sung a song for cheering India for exhibiting a great performance in Olympics.
