Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore Faces Third Consecutive Lose As CSK beat RCB By 6 Wickets!
MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings won the Southern derby battle by beating Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 wickets. In the match played on Friday, two cricket giants Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni face-off each other in the small stadium of Sharjah where MS Dhoni won the clash.
Earlier, it was CSK who won the toss and elected to field. RCB batsmen started off with a blast. The opening pair of Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal put a stand of 111 runs in just 13 overs. RCB’s skipper Virat Kohli made his second half-century of the season. He played a knock of 53 runs on 41 balls with the help of 6 fours and 1 six.
His partner Devdutt Padikkal also completed his half-century. He played beautifully in his knock of 70 runs where he hit 5 fours and 3 glamorous sixes. Dwayne Bravo took the first wicket of the RCB’s innings. He sent Virat back to the dugout. After this big partnership, no other batsman could settle on this wicket. Shardul Thakur got the second wicket of AB De Villers. Thakur got another wicket in the same over as he sent Padikkal back to the pavilion.
Other RCB batsmen couldn’t add much to the total and once strong-looking RCB failed to convert their start into a big total and scored 156 in their given 20 overs. From CSK, Dwayne Bravo took three wickets in his four overs. Shardul Thakur also scappled 2 wickets. Deepak Chahar got 1 wicket.
In response, CSK openers started well. The opening duo of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf Du Plessis scored 71 runs for 1st wicket in just 8 overs. Yuzvendra Chahal got the first wicket of Gaikwad as he caught him in the hands of Virat. CSK lost their second consecutive wicket in the next over. Glenn Maxwell got the wicket of fine-looking Faf du Plessis. But then Moeen Ali and Ambati Rayudu ensured no other wicket. They made a partnership of 47 runs for the 3rd wicket. Purple cap holder Harshal Patek strike and got the wicket of M Ali.
Patel got his second wicket after sending Rayudu back to the dugout. But it was too late for the red army to make a comeback. Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni ensured no further loss and took CSK above the winning line. From RCB, Patel took two wickets. Chahal and Maxwell got 1-1 wickets each.
With this win, Chennai Super Kings remains at top of the table. RCB remains on the third spot as well. Today Kane Williamson captained Sunrisers will take on KL Rahul’s Punjab Kings in a must winning game for both teams. Both are at bottom of the table.
