Indian Premier League 2021: Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Royal Challengers Bangalore By 4 Runs!

The party-poopers Sunrisers Hyderabad has beaten Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 52nd match of the IPL and has put Virat’s RCB side in a spot of bother slimming their chances of finishing in the top two. SRH has hurt RCB many times before whether it was the 2016 IPL final or yesterday. The match was played in Sheikh Zayed Stadium.

A fine display of bowling has helped Sunrisers Hyderabad to defend a low total against a fine batting unit of Royal Challengers Bangalore. After winning the toss, RCB skipper Virat Kohli opted to bowl first. SRH didn’t start well. They lost the wicket of their opener, Abhishek Sharma, cheaply at a team total of 14. George Garton took his wicket.

On the other end, English batsman Jason Roy was in an indifferent mood. He was taking on RCB’s bowlers well. Roy and SRH skipper Kane Williamson put a fine partnership of 71 runs for the 2nd wicket. Purple cap holder Harshal Patel finally got the wicket of Kane who was looking in quite a good touch. Patel bowled to him. Williamson made 31 runs with 4 fours in it.

The new man Priyam Garg didn’t support Jason much and fell after adding 21 runs with Roy. Dan Christian took his wicket. At this stage, SRH was 105 for 3. In the same over Christian removed Jason Roy and gave SRH a huge blow. SRH loses another wicket on the next wicket. This time it was Yuzvendra Chahal who took the wicket of Abdul Samad. Wriddiman Saha and Jason Holder tried to take SRH to a good total. In the end, a fine start couldn’t end that well and SRH could make 141 runs in 20 overs with the loss of 7 wickets.

From RCB, once again Harshal Patel was the key bowler with 3 wickets. Dan Christian was economical too. He took 2 wickets in 3 overs by just giving 14 runs. Yuzi Chahal and George Garton got 1-1 wickets each.

The stage was set, Now, it was time for RCB batters to show. On the other hand, SRH bowlers were ready too. Bhuvneshwar Kumar started with a bang with the ball. He got the big wicket of Virat Kohli in the 1st over. RCB lost another wicket in the form of Dan Christian. It was really not the start RCB was hoping for. After the powerplay, Srikar Bharat couldn’t handle the pace of young Umran Malik and got out. At this stage, RCB was 38 for 3 in 7 overs.

It was looking that SRH will take over the Royals easily. But then Glenn Maxwell came and brought a thunderstorm of fours and sixes. He took RCB in a fine position. Paddikal added 51 runs with Glenn. The Australian all-rounder got run-out and it proved to be a game-changer for Bangalore. Glenn made 40 runs on just 25 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Paddikal fell shortly after Maxwell. Rashid Khan got his wicket. Devdutt made a slow 41 runs on 52 balls with just 4 fours.

Now, it was time for Ab De Villiers to come and save Bangalore. But surprisingly, Ab missed the opportunity to take RCB above the line. RCB fell short of SRH’s total by 4 runs. Thanks to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jason Holder, and Siddarth Kaul who bowled really well in the death overs. SRH tried five bowlers and every bowler got 1 wicket.

In the post-match representation, SRH skipper Kane Williamson has adjusted the man of the match. Though RCB has already made it to the playoffs every team wants to finish in the top two positions and with this loss, RCB has failed to achieve that.
