Sanju Samson Century Went In Vain As Punjab Beat Rajasthan By 4 Runs!
It was the fourth match of the great Indian Premier League but the excitement was the same as one. Punjab Kings took charge of Rajasthan Royals and won the thrilling match by four runs.
The match was played at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium which is known for its big scores and that same happened in this match. Rajasthan’s Skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to bowl first which was so obvious in Wankhede. But Punjab’s batsmen were indifferent mood especially Skipper KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda. Rahul smashed 91 runs and made a hundred wicket partnerships with Hooda who played a blasting knock of 64 runs in just 28 balls.
From Rajasthan Royals, debutant Chetan Sakariya was impressed with the ball as he took 3 for 31 in his four overs. The remaining bowlers disappointed as Punjab put a mammoth total of 221 on the board.
It was never going to be easy for the Royals until Sanju Samson made it look visible a bit for the royal’s fans. He played a captain’s knock of 119 and took the team very near to the line but he and Rajasthan failed to cross the line.
Samson didn’t get the support from the other hand but his fabulous knock won many hearts. It should be remembered that Sanju was captaining the Rajasthan’s side for the first time and he becomes the first player in the IPL to score a century in his first match as a captain. He was later adjusted the man of the match for his outstanding innings.
