Royal Challengers Bangalore Won The Close Opening Encounter By Beating Mumbai Indians By 2 Wickets!

Virat Kohli’s men in red have won the first match of the Vivo Indian Premier League 2021 by beating Mumbai Indians in a breath-packed clash with 2 wickets. As expected, the match went to the last ball but RCB made it to cross the line. 

RCB’s skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to bowl first. Mumbai with the help of knocks from Chris Lynn and Ishan Kishan who scored 49 and 31 respectively put a score of 159 on the board. It was again Ab de Villiers whose blasting knock of 48 on just 27 balls helped Challengers to win the opening clash.

RCB’s Harshal Patel was the man of the match as he scappled five wickets in the first innings of Mumbai Indians and ended up with a figure of 5 for 27. Three of them came in the last over. Virat and Glenn Maxwell also contributed with the bat with the knocks of 33 and 39 respectively. 

After 2013, Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai has always failed to win the opening match. Debutants from RCB have been impressed with their performance. Kylie Jamieson and Glenn Maxwell have made a decent start. Jamieson ended with a figure of 27 in four overs though he failed to get his first wicket.
