Indian Premier League 2021: Rajasthan Royals Stunned Chennai Super Kings By Beating CSK by 7 Wickets!

Cricket is an unpredictable game. And that’s what the last matches between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings proved. Rajasthan beat the table-toppers Chennai by 7 wickets while chasing down the target of 190. Youngsters Shivam Dube and Yashsavi Jaiswal played an important role to make the chase cakewalk for the Royals. 

No one was taking Rajasthan as favorites before the match as Chennai Super Kings was unbeaten in the UAE leg so far. But Royals handed over their first loss in UAE. Before that Sanju Samson-led RR won the toss and elected to field first. The pitch was flat and favorable for the batsmen. 

The opening pair of Faf Du Plessis and Rituraj Gayakwad made a good start. They added 47 runs for the 1st wicket. Rahul Tewatia found the first breakthrough. He sent Faf Du Plessis back to the dugout. The poor form of Suresh Raina continues as he got out cheaply giving Tewatia another wicket. He was promoted to number 3 but he failed to get his form back. At this stage, CSK were 57 for 2. 

Then in-form batsman Rituraj and English all-rounder Moeen Ali added 57 runs for the 3rd wicket and took CSK to a good position. In between Rituraj completed another fifty. It was his 4th half-century of the season. Rahul Tewatia star again and got the wicket of dangerous Moeen Ali. 

On one end, Gayakwad was playing his shots and made the CSK stronger. On the other end, CSK lost the wicket of Ambati Rayudu. Chetan Sakariya got his wicket. At this stage, CSK were 134 for 4 in 16 overs. It was looking that CSK will reach 160 at the end but Ravindra Jadeja and Gayakwad were in a different mood. 

Jadeja smashed 4 fours and 1 six in his cameo of 32 runs from 15 balls. Rituraj made his first hundred of the IPL. He completed his century by hitting a six on the last ball of the CSK’s innings. CSK put a mammoth of 189 runs on the board. From RR, Tewatia got 3 wickets, and Sakariya got 1 wicket. 

The chase was not going to be easy for the Rajasthan Royals against the in-form bowling line-up of Chennai. But youth star Yashasvi Jaiswal turned the game around. He made a devasting opening partnership of 77 runs in just 5 overs with West Indian hitter Ewin Lewis. Shardul Thakur broke the partnership by sending Lewis back. Ewin made a contribution of 27 runs on just 12 balls. After the end of the powerplay, the score of the Royals was 81 for 1. Newman KS Asif got the big wicket of Jaiswal. The left-hander made cracking 50 in just 21 and became the second-fastest uncapped Indian to reach 50 runs. In his innings, Yashasvi hit 6 fours and 3 sixes.

Then, Skipper Sanju Samson and all-rounder, Shivam Dube made a match-winning partnership of 89 runs for the 3rd wicket. Shivam played a match-winning knock of 64 runs on 42 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes. In the end, Glenn Phillips won the match for the Royals.

He made quick 14 runs in 8 balls with 1 fours and a six. Royals achieved the target in just 17.3 overs. From CSK, Shardul Thakur got 2 wickets. Asif got 1 wicket. 

Despite losing, Rituraj Gayakwad from Chennai has adjusted the man of the match for his 101 runs. Royals’ win has opened a lot of opportunities for the 4th spot in the table. 

Delhi Capital’s Win Over Mumbai Indians Made It Tough For Indians To Make It For Playoff!

Since it was double-header Saturday. In the first match, Delhi Capitals beat Mumbai Indians by 4 wickets to get qualified for the playoffs. Mumbai scored 129 runs in 20 overs. Capitals chased down the target of 130 in 19.1 overs. Thanks to Delhi bowlers Avesh Khan, and Axar Patel who took 3-3 wickets to dismiss the MI innings. 

Mumbai now has 10 points in 12 matches. They have to win the remaining matches with a better margin to make their way in top 4 and has to look on the other teams’ match result.
