Rahul Chahar’s Brilliance Won The Match For MI!
Indian premier league witnessed a huge upside down in the fifth match where Mumbai Indians beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 10 runs. It was Rahul Chahar’s brilliance that turned things down for Kolkata.
The match was played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Rohit-led Mumbai came to bat after losing the toss and with the help of knocks from skipper Rohit Sharma and Surya Kumar Yadav who made 43 and 56 respectively, Indians put a below-par score of 152. From Kolkata, it was Andre Russell who scappled 5 wickets in just two overs. It was purely brilliant captaincy from a World Cup-winning captain, Eoin Morgen who used his bowlers in the perfect order.
It was looking easy for knight Riders, as openers Nitish Rana and Shubhman Gill put a partnership of 72 runs. Nitish Rana showed his superb form again before he got out to Chahar. The left-hand batsman scored 57 runs. Shubhman contributed with his 33 runs. Kolkata was looking good at the end of the 15th over where the score was 122 for 4 wickets. But then came the storm of Rahul Chahar who rattled out the batting lineup of Kolkata. He registered a figure of 4/27 in his four overs.
Chahar was joined by Krunal Pandya who managed to keep Kolkata’s batsmen quiet. In the depth overs, the brilliance of Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult worked and Kolkata Knight Riders fell short by 10 runs. The bowling duo stopped the storming batting duo of Kolkata which included Dinesh Kartik and Andre Russell.
This was Kolkata’s 22nd loss to Mumbai. Indians have allowed Kolkata to win just 6 matches in IPL history.
