Indian Premier League 2021: Glenn Maxwell’s Half-century Helped RCB To Win Against Royals!
Australian All-rounder Glenn Maxwell is proving himself as a right pick for the Royal Challengers Bangalore during the auctions. His another fifty has helped Bangalore to clinch their 7th victory in the tournament by beating Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets. The match was played in Dubai International Stadium.
Earlier it was RCB’s skipper Virat Kohli who won the toss. He decided to chase down the total. The pitch was looking fine for batting and the thought is that the pitch will get better for the batsmen in the next innings. Royals’ batsmen started well.
Openers Ewin Lewis and Yashasvi Jaiswal built a partnership of 77 in 8 overs. West Indian hitter Lewis looked in good touch with the bat. Youngster Jaiswal played some cracking shots too. Dan Christian found the first breakthrough for RCB as Jaiswal miss-hit the ball and got caught. He made 31 runs on 22 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes.
Rajasthan lost their second wicket on the team total of 100 in the form of Ewin Lewis. He got out to new man George Garton after completing his fifty. He played fine innings of 58 runs on just 37 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes.
After these two no other RR batsmen tried to get settled on the crease. Royals started losing wickets at regular intervals. Lack of partnerships brought the team to a low score. In the end, a strong start couldn’t end with a strong finish. In 20 overs, Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan made 149 runs giving a target of 150.
From Bangalore, Harshal Patel shone with the ball again. The purple cap holder took 3 wickets. Yuzvendra Chahal and Shahbaz Ahmed took 2-2 wickets each. Two new pacers, Dan Christian and George Garton also got 1-1 wickets.
Royal Challengers Bangalore started fine. The opening pair of Skipper Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal put a partnership of 48 runs. Bangladeshi star pacer Mustafizur Rahman got the first wicket of RCB. He bowled Padikkal. The in-form left-hander could make only 22 with 4 fours. Good-looking Virat got out by an unfortunate run-out. RCB was reduced to 58 for 2.
Royals bowlers tried to bring the team back in the game. But Srikar Bharat and Glenn Maxwell put a match-winning partnership of 69 runs for the 3rd wicket. Bharat missed his half-century as Mustafizur got another wicket. Bharat made 44 runs on 35 balls with 3 fours and 1 six.
After that Maxwell and Ab De Villers took RCB to the winning line. Australian star Glenn Maxwell made another half-century. He made 50 from 30 balls with 6 fours and a six. RCB chased the target in just 17.1 overs with 7 wickets remaining. From Rajasthan, only Mustafizur got wickets. He scappled 2 wickets while the other bowlers’ wicket column is null. Samson tried 7 bowlers but failed to restrict the Red army.
Yuzi Chahal was adjusted the man of the match for his fine bowling which changed the course of the match. He scappled 2 wickets by giving 18 runs in his 4 overs.
