Glenn Maxwell And Ab De Villiers Blew Kolkata Away

Royal Challengers Bangalore has got three wins in a row as they have beaten Kolkata Knight Riders in the 10th match of IPL by 38 runs. It seems that their slogan ‘Ae Sala Cup Namde’ will get true this season.

It was a doubleheader Sunday where two matches were played. It was the first match between RCB and KKR. The match was played at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium. The skipper of RCB Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first.

The start of men in red was not up to mark as the team lost two wickets on just 9 including the wicket of skipper himself whose struggle with the bat is still running. But Australian great Glenn Maxwell turned the things around for RCB. He set a partnership of 86 runs with Devdutt Padikkal before the left-handed batsman was sent back to the pavilion by Prasidh Krishna.

His wicket brought Ab de Villiers aka Mr. 360 to the crease. The right-handed South African with Maxwell set a blasting partnership and rattled the bowling line-up of Kolkata Knight Riders. Ab scored 38 runs in the two overs of Andre Russell. Glenn Maxwell got caught on 78. With the help of innings from Maxwell and Ab who remained not out, RCB set a huge target of 205 for the Riders.

From KKR, Varun Chakravarthy took two wickets. Krishna and Cummins got one-one each. It was nearly impossible to chase down the target of 205 on a pitch like Chennai. KKR didn’t start well and lost their two wickets in the first six overs. Though they maintained the required run rate. Ander Russell scored 31 runs which were the highest on the scorecard of KKR. Men in purple were restricted by the RCB bowlers on 166.  From RCB, right-arm pacer Kyle Jamieson took three wickets but he was costly. Harshal Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal got two-two each. Off Spinner Washington Sundar got one wicket. Ab de Villiers for his striking innings of 76 on just 34 balls adjusted the Man of the Match award.
