Dhawan Brilliance Claimed Victory Against Punjab Kings

In the second match of the day which was played between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals, Rishabh Pant’s boys beat KL Rahul’s army by 4 wickets. The match was played at Mumbai‘s Wankhede Stadium. 

It was Rishabh Pant who won the toss and asked Punjab to open the innings. Kings responded well to the challenge. Skipper KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal set a first wicket partnership of 122 runs. KL Rahul played innings of 61 runs including two sixes. Mayank on the other played a blasting inning of 69 runs on just 36 balls including four sixes. 

Deepak Hooda and Sharukh Khan played a little cameo in the end with the help of which Punjab set a huge target of 196 runs for Capitals. From Delhi, Chris Woakes, Avesh Khan, Kagiso Rabada, and Lukman Meriwala got a one-one wicket each. 

Seeing the records of previous matches, it was looking difficult for Delhi to chase but Shikhar Dhawan aka Gabbar was thinking something else. Dhawan played an impressive knock of 92 and his innings proved to be the difference between the two teams. He set an opening partnership with Prithvi Shaw of 59. Shaw played a fast inning of 32 runs. 

After Shaw got out Capitals lost back-to-back wickets of Steve Smith, Shikhar, and Skipper Rishabh Pant. Marcus Stoinis handled the situation and took Delhi to the target. Delhi chased down the target in just 18 overs. From Punjab, all bowlers were punished. Jhye Richardson took two wickets by giving 41 runs in his four overs. Shikhar Dhawan got the Man of the Match for his brilliant innings.
