Confident Delhi Capitals Registered 8th Win To Become Table Toppers By Beating Rajasthan Royals!
It seems that captaincy suits Rishabh Pant. Delhi Capitals has registered their 8th win in 10 matches they have played under Pant’s captaincy. In the first match of the double-header, Delhi has beaten Rajasthan Royals by 33 runs. Rajasthan’s skipper Sanju Samson tried to pull Royals but Delhi ended up as the winner. The match was played in Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.
Earlier, it was Rajasthan Royals who won the toss and decided to bowl first. Delhi Capitals didn’t start well. The pace-duo of Karthik Tyagi and Chetan Sakariya stunned Delhi’s top orders. Then Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant added 62 runs for the 3rd wicket. Bangladeshi star pacer Mustafizur Rehman got the third breakthrough. He got the wicket of Rishabh Pant. All-rounder Rahul Tewatia got another set-batsman in the form of former Delhi’s skipper Shreyas Iyer. He played a knock of 43 runs on 32 balls with 1 four and 2 sixes.
West Indian hitter Shimron Hetmyer showed some shots and took Delhi over 100. He made crucial 28 runs from 16 balls. In the end, Delhi batsmen were able to reach 154 in their 20 overs. From Rajasthan Royals, Mustafizur Rehman showed a fine display of bowling. He gave just 22 runs in his 4 overs and took 2 wickets. Chetan Sakariya also got 2 wickets. Karthik Tyagi and Rahul Tewatia took 1-1 each.
In the response, Rajasthan needed a good start but Delhi bowlers assured it won’t happen. Royals’ openers fall one by one in consecutive overs. The pace attack of Avesh Khan and Anrich Nortje strike early. First Avesh Khan has been removed from Liam Livingston. Nortje in the next over got the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal.
The top and middle order of the Royals fell like cards. David Miller, last match performer Mahipal Lomror, and Riyan Parag no one tried to get settled on the pitch. The skipper Sanju Samson though played a decent knock of 70 runs in 53 balls with 8 fours and a six. It was never going to be enough and he didn’t get any support from the other end. The Royals were just able to make 121 runs in their chase and lost to the capitals by 33 runs.
From Delhi, Anrich Nortje took 2 wickets. Avesh Khan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, and Axar Patel got 1-1 each. With this win, Delhi Capitals has displaced Chennai Super Kings to become the table toppers. Shreyas Iyer was the adjusted man of the match.
