Rishabh’s Hundred and Washington Sundar helped India to take 89 runs lead

The day two of the final test between India and England at Ahmedabad saw Rishabh Pant’s marvelous century reviving India from a tough situation on the field. Washington Sundar’s unbeaten fifty aided the situation and India ended the day at 294/7 with a healthy lead of 89 runs.

The england bowlers started off at a high pitch and reduced India struggling to 146 runs for 6. Their veteran pacer James Anderson turned out to be the best bowler as he took three wickets, while Jack Leach and Ben Stokes scalped two each.

India’s top order slipped quickly with Cheteshwar Pujara sent back to the pavilion for 17 by Jack Leach. Next came the bigger blow, with Ben Stokes dismissing Captain Kohli for 0. With Vice captain Rahane’s dismissal next, James Anderson added another wicket to his tally. Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin  were next, leaving India in a rather intriguing situation in front of the visitors.

The saving partnership of the day was thus, Indian wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant and Washington Sundar’s. Rishabh scored a century with a smashing six off England captain Joe Root while Sundar remained not out at 60. India ended up with a 89 runs lead against England and will be looking to use this advantage tomorrow on the field. England, on the other hand, will try to dismiss the remaining three Indian batsmen as soon as possible to make their entry back in the game.

The men in blue will be looking forward to win or atleast draw this series if they want a place in the finals of ICC World Test Championship against New Zealand. The much awaited match is scheduled to take place on June 18-22, at the Lord’s cricket ground in London, England
