Victorious Virat’s Iconic Entry in IPL
The year 2008 was a destiny-changer in Virat’s life, he was offered a contract by Royal Challengers Bangalore after seeing his performances in the former matches. And to the surprise of RCB, his contributions towards his team were tremendous and his runs were increasing exponentially year by year. With the IPL 2011 at hand, the only player who was retained by RCB was Virat Kohli and thereafter he also was made the Vice-Captain of RCB.
Kohli’s display in IPL, as well as the ODI Series with South Africa in 2011, made him a desirable and a must player to be selected in the World Cup, and in place of Cricket Great Suresh Raina, Kohli got the chance to play the 2011 World Cup on the command of MS Dhoni. Even Raina said in an interview in 2020 that Gambhir-Kohli’s partnership was a twist that put the chance of winning in favor of India and the rest is history.
Rise Of Virat Kohli In The Blues Of India!!
Virat Kohli got the chance to play the first-ever ODI for the nation in 2008 against Sri Lanka. He was selected into the squad as the regular openers weren’t available. He played some satisfying knock as an opener and India managed to win that series but then Sachin Tendulkar and Virendra Sehwag made the vacancy filled and Kohli was out of the eleven.
Little champ then showed fine performances in domestic cricket and the emerging players tournament held in Australia in 2009. The right-hand batsman made 398 runs in the 7 innings including 2 tons and 2 halftones.
Seeing his tremendous form, selectors picked him for an ODI series against Sri Lanka, and Kohli paid back the faith by hitting his first-ever hundred in the ODI format while chasing down the total. He proved his selection vital in the World Cup 2011 as we mentioned earlier.

Virat Kohli In The Whites Of India!
Virat got his call from the Indian team for the red-ball cricket in 2011 against West Indies. Though Virat just scored 76 runs in the five innings he played. The start of his Test career was not good. Then he didn’t get chances in the next test series. He got selected for the tour against Australia in late 2011.
The first two matches didn’t go well. In the third match, he scored his first half-ton in his test career. Then the fourth match changes the career of Kohli in the whites of India. He scored 112 runs which were the only century from the Indian side throughout the series.
He carried his fine form with him and scored a lot of runs across all the formats.
2014, A nightmare for Virat Kohli!
Virat had become a regular player for the Indian side in both blues and whites. He was added to the squad to visit England in 2014 for the five-match test series. That proved a nightmare for the little champ. He just averaged 13.40 in the 10 innings he played. That was the worse of Virat Kohli.
He was struggling with the outswinger which was bowled at the 3rd and 4th stump. He corrected his technique and then roared with the bat in Australia. He scored 672 runs in that series of 2014 which was the most by any batsman in tests in Australia. He captained for the first time in the same series for the first test match when regular captain MS Dhoni was absent.
Seeing his captaincy skills he was made India’s regular captain after that tour and India created history in his captaincy. First, he made India number one in the test rankings by showing dominance in the home and away series. Virat’s next tour of England in 2018 was a remarkable one as a batsman. He scored two centuries and three half tons in that series.
Though India lost the series by 3-1 he was the top scorer in that series which showed the world that this is new Virat. The Indian skipper has remained on the top of ICC test rankings for batsman.
India’s and Virat’s new challenge was India’s tour of Australia in 2018. The lion roared again with the bat and captaincy as well. India for the first time defeated Australia at their home under his captaincy. Though Virat is still dreaming of a Test series win in New Zealand, England, and South Africa.
