India Vs England 2nd Test Day 2: Mohammad Siraj Shines On Day 2 With England 119 For 3!
England made a good comeback on the second day of a second test match. English bowlers bowled out India on 364 and then ended the day with 119 on the loss of 3 wickets. English Skipper Joe Root is still on the crease with unbeaten 49 runs. For India Mohammad Siraj took two wickets.
Earlier in the morning, India started their innings with 276 for 3. It seemed that the tourists will make more than 400 from here but England bowlers came with a different mindset. Ollie Robinson strikes early and sent set KL Rahul on an individual score of 129. Rahul failed to convert his ton into a big one.
James Anderson got the wicket of Indian vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane who got out without scoring a single run in the day. Though Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja set a small partnership of 49 runs which took India above 300. Mark Wood sent dangerous-looking Pant back to the pavilion. Moeen Ali got his first wicket as he sent
Mohmmad Shami back. Shami didn’t get a chance to score any run. Then Jadeja set up a small partnership of 26 runs with Ishant Sharma which took India over 350. Jimmy Anderson took his fourth wicket by sending Sharma to the dug-out.
Then with the wicket of Jasprit Bumrah, James Anderson completed his fiver. This was Anderson’s 31st five-wicket haul in a test career. Jadeja was left with no option besides hitting big. In this try, he threw his wicket to Robinson and the whole Indian team got all-out on 364. This is low if we look at the position from where Men In Blue started their day. Though it is enough to score to push England back.
The hosts started well. Both openers Rory Burns and Dom Sibley survived the first hour with patience. But then Siraj Got two back-to-back wickets. He sent Sibley back to the pavilion. And on the next ball, he bowled Haseeb Hamid who was playing after a long wait. This was not a good return at all for Hamid who got out on the first ball.
Though Skipper Joe Root and Rory Burns made a strong comeback and took England to a better position from 23 for 2 to 108. Mohammad Shami got the wicket of Burns just before the stumps. At the time of Stumps, Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow were on the crease. England is still trailing by 245 runs with 7 wickets in hand. The wicket is looking good for batting. We can see a high total from England as well.
Twitter Reacts To Pant’s Request To Kohli To Not Take A DRS!
There was a funny moment that came during the match when on the ball of Siraj an appeal is made which is overturned. Virat and co came to discuss with Siraj about taking DRS. Wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant denied Skipper Virat to take the DRS but Virat took it anyhow and it went wrong. Twitterites praised Pant for his decision and held the moment cutely.
