What Are The Possible Scenarios For The World Test Championship Final?

The fourth day of the final of WTC between India and New Zealand Has Been Washed Out without being single ball bowled. Though a reserve day has been kept by International Cricket Council (ICC) on 23rd June to tackle such issues the complete washout has built a lot of scenarios for the outcome of the World Test Championship Final. Let’s find out what they are.

First Scenario: India Win

This is the least possible scenario among all. Seeing the current situation where the Indian team has been bowled out on just 217 and in response, the Kiwi team has made 101 with the cost of two wickets. The Kiwis are a stronger contender of winning from here. Indian bowlers have to do a lot of work on day 5 of the game. They need to get all the remaining 8 wickets as soon as possible.

Second Scenario: New Zealand Win

A team that has more chances to win the final is New Zealand. Though it is nearly impossible that we get a result of the match in the remaining two days. Still, Men In Black has the advantage here. They can extend their runs to take a good lead. For this, they have to play fast. If they get a lead of 150 or more Kiwi bowlers can bowl out India seeing seaming conditions. New Zealand can even win by an innings.

Third Scenario: Draw Or Washed OUT

This is the most possible scenario of the game. With just two days of play remaining, it is nearly impossible to get a single winner from here. In this scenario, there are two situations. First, if the match gets canceled due to rain. Both the team will share the trophy. The second situation is if teams get a chance to play and the match ends with a draw with no team winning. The results of both situations are the same. The trophy will be shared.

After a wait of 144 years of Test history, no one will want a draw. Everyone is finding a winner here but we have to accept the reality that the chances of getting a match draw are high. Well, Cricket is unpredictable. We don’t know what can happen. Will ICC add another day of cricket on the demand of fans? I don’t think so. We will find out in the future.
