England Vs New Zealand First Test: Resolute England Took It To Draw

The first test between England and New Zealand didn’t find any result on day five. Before that New Zealand declared their innings at 169 for six with a lead of 272 runs. England was given nearly sessions to play. Before that Kiwi’s batsmen started the day with an attacking mindset. The lead was 165 runs when New Zealand started the fifth day. Tom Latham and Ross Tayler played some fast and important knocks and took their team to a match-winning lead. 

English batsmen were in no mood to lose the game. First innings centurion Rory Burns and his partner Dom Sibley made an opening partnership of 49. Though there was a bit of luck with both batsmen. Neil Wagner sent Burns back to the pavilion and gave a little hope to the visitors. Tim Southee sent Zack Crawly at the team score of 56. Butterflies were started flying in the stomach of Englishmen. Then captain Joe Root built a partnership with Sibley of 80 runs and ensured that England is not going to lose the test. At the team score of 136, Root got out. Wagner took his second wicket. But it was already late. Dom Sibley and Ollie Pop took England to 170 runs at the end of the day. 

Dom Sibley remained unbeaten on 60 runs. From New Zealand, Neil Wagner took two wickets and Tim Southee got one. With no doubt, Devon Conway was held the Man of the Match award for his 200 in the first innings. Well, the series is not over yet. One match is still remaining to decide the champion.
