Kolkata Knight Riders Starts Their Campaign With A Win Against Sunrisers Hyderabad!

It is just the starting of the tournament and every team is playing its first game to win that’s what Kolkata knight Riders did by beating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 10 runs to kick off the tournament with the win. 

In match number 3, played at MA Chidambaram Stadium Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and followed the same pattern to bat in the second innings. Kolkata’s batsmen took charge over Hyderabad’s bowler especially left-hand batsman Nitish Rana who played a blasting knock of 80 in just 56 balls. Youngster Rahul Tripathi was fabulous too, he impressed everyone with his knock of 53 where he hit 5 fours and 2 sixes. Wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Kartik presented a stormy cameo at the end where he made 22 quickly. 

With help of knocks from Rana and Tripathi, the night riders put 187/6 on the board. It was a very poor display of bowling from the Sunrisers. Afghani duo Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi scalped two wickets each. Bhuvneshwar and Natarajan got one-one in the end.

It was never going to be easy for the Warner-led Hyderabad to chase down 188 seeing the decent bowling attack of Kolkata. Sunrisers started poorly and the orange army lost captain

David Warner and Wriddhiman Saha cheaply and the team was 10 for 2. It was looking like a cakewalk for the riders before Manish Pandey and Jonny Bairstow set up a 92 runs stand where Pandey made 61 and Bairstow got out on 55. Besides them, no other batsman tried to settle on the pitch and the orange army fell 10 runs short from KKR’s target.

From KKR, Prasidh Krishna took two wickets. Shakib Al Hasan, Pat Cummins, and Andre Russell got one-one each. Nitish Rana was an adjusted man of the match for his brilliant performance.
