You are just amazing Karthik Tyagi! Maybe everyone will be saying that after seeing the last thrilling over from this young pacer which made Rajasthan Royals beat Punjab Kings by 2 runs. KL Rahul-led Punjab needed 4 runs in the last over which was given to Karthik. The young gun just gave 1 run in his over to make the Royals win in the nail-biting finish.
Earlier it was KL Rahul who won the toss and asked Rajasthan Royals to bat first. The match was played in Dubai International Stadium. The West Indian hitter played fine innings of 36 runs on 21 balls with 7 fours and a six.
Rajasthan’s skipper Sanju Samson couldn’t find his form and got out early. Royals were reduced to 68 for 2. On the other hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal was playing his shots. He got support from Liam Livingston who played a knock of 25 runs on 16 balls. They took the Royals above 100. Liam fell on a team score of 116 and Singh got his second wicket.
Jaiswal missed his half-century by 1 run and got out and fell to Harpreet Dar. Mahipal Lomror played an impressive inning at the end to take Rajasthan Royals past 150. He made 43 runs on just 17 balls with 4 sixes and 2 fours. He didn’t get any support from the other end and thus Royals failed to make 200. The whole team got all out on 185.
From Punjab Kings, Arshdeep Singh was a key bowler with his first 5-wickets hall.
Mohammad Shami looked fine as well with 3 wickets and 21 runs in his 4 overs. Ishan Porel and Harpreet Dar got 1-1 wicket each.
The chase was not going to be easy, but the opening pair of KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal started with a blast. Punjab put 120 runs partnership for the first wicket in just 12 overs. KL Rahul was the man who got out as 1st wicket. Chetan Sakariya got Rahul on his individual score of 49. All-rounder Rahul Tewatia got the second wicket of dangerous-looking Mayank Agarwal. He made 67 runs on 43 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes.
Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran, the two new men put a partnership of 57 runs for 3rd wicket. It was looking like a cakewalk for the Kings as they were easily moving toward the target. But Royals’ bowlers turned the match in the last leg. The duo of Mustfizur Rehman and Karthik Tyagi changed the decorum of the match. They both with their tight bowling took the match to the last over.
In the 20th over, Punjab Kings needed just 4 runs but Tyagi restricted them and gave just a single run in the last over. For his fabulous display of bowling, he was later adjusted man of the match.
